A burr stone is used to remove the burr from the edge of your blade. It is one of the stones that you need to sharpen your ice speed skating blades.
The Bont diamond short track burr stone has a grit of 600, this is an intermediate grit level that is not too harsh that it will damage your blade, but also not too fine that it won't get the burr off the blade. The perfect grit level for short-track blades.
To use the stone, first sharpen your blades, with the Bont diamond stone or another brand of diamond sharpening stone. Then take the burr stone and run it down the sides of the blade to remove the burr. If you have too much burr, the burr may fold up onto the blade rather than being removed from the blade.
You can test this by using your fingernail to feel for the burr. If this has occurred, just do a few more swipes with your diamond stone and then remove the burr again.
You should remove the burr after each sharpening stone you use including your polishing stone.
